Look at your walls. When last has it seen a new coat of paint? Do you still like the colour?
They say change is as good as a holiday, so read on about how you can create a little bit of an emotional holiday right around you.
1. Your Home Is No Longer A Haven
Dingy spaces, bland paint schemes. Do you really enjoy coming home to this? Surround yourself with things that are nice to look at and that bring a smile to your face.
2. Monotony Can Be A Drag
Change it up. Bring something new into the space. There is a great quote that goes, "Adventure may hurt you, but monotony will kill you!" and I think it serves true for our second point. Sure, you might not be able to afford an entire new kitchen, but you can start small and try changing around the layout of your house and perhaps bring in a fresh coat of paint here and there.
3. It's Been 10 Years Since You Bought A New Piece Of Furniture
Your house is out of date. If you're a trend-setting socialite, this is a no-no. Try adding swapping out some of your well love furniture for a new piece that you can dote on. Research the latest decor trends, but choose something that suits your personal style.
4. It's Not Functional Space Anymore.
Kids moved out? Change up their space into something you can both use. Need a gym? Now you have the space! Seriously, the options are endless - meditation room, library, craft room, guest room, movie room...
5. Investment Is Always A Great Idea
A well thought out renovation can increase the resell value of your home. You can consider it an investment for the future, but one that can be enjoyed now. Be careful not to go too over the top as you don't want to end up living in a show house - it is your home after all.
